Sisters

The series shows two young girls, 10 and 12 years old, standing close together. One looks straight into the camera, the other has her eyes closed. The image is printed repeatedly, but processed in different ways: in one print something reminiscent of a burqa is painted, in another the surface is decorated with flags and symbols that refer to gender, in a third the colors of the Palestinian flag are splashed over the girls, while in another the face of one of the girls is covered by a simple doodle. Together, the series forms a multifaceted work in which the same image is transformed through symbolic, political and personal interventions.
