This time too will pass, part 2
2024 Vadsø Kunstforening / art association.
In collaboration with craftsman Steffen Henriksen, I have developed the project This Time Will Also Pass, shown at Lille Kabelvåg Gallery and Art Museum (2023) and Vadsø Kunstforening (2024). The exhibition combines photography, objects and sculptures made from found materials. We explore how the form and history of objects can be renewed and given new meanings. In the work Guardians, driftwood from regulated ponds meets rebar and concrete, forming a silent chorus of resistance against the exploitation of nature. By using “poor” materials and elements from consumer society, the project points towards traditions from Arte Povera and invites reflection on what art can be – and what kind of traces we leave behind.
We are here
In this work I have collected grass, made lye from ashes, boiled and pressed the grass to get the fibers out. The laborious process is satisfying as I can create something without consuming. The papers become fragile, it is almost impossible to embroider on them without destroying them. For me, the fragility of the papers is an expression of the fragility I experience in the structures of society today.
